Adapted from Hunter S. Thompson's novel, 'The Rum Diary' (2011) follows journalist Paul Kemp (Depp) as he moves to Puerto Rico and finds himself caught between a shady businessman (Eckhart), the seductive fiancée (Heard), and a bevvy of lost souls. The film explores themes of love, jealousy, and the unravelling of the American Dream. It's a drama spiced with Thompson's trademark wit and social criticism, rated R for language, brief drug use and sexuality.
